G B Prop Submssn Local Plan strategy sites cover June 2016The Proposed Submission Local Plan: strategy and sites sets out the vision for the borough and the Council’s approach to development between 2013 and 2033. When adopted the plan will play an important role in shaping Guildford’s future – how our towns and villages develop, protecting and enhancing our natural environment,  developing our local economy, improving leisure and visitor facilities and supporting more sustainable forms of travel. 

The Proposed Submission Local Plan has taken into consideration the comments submitted during previous consultations held on the Council’s Issues and Options document (autumn 2013) and draft Local Plan (summer 2014).


The Council invited comments about the Proposed Submission Local Plan: strategy and sites (regulation 19) from 6 June to 18 July 2016. 

The Council asked for general comments about the plan, but also for specific comments relating to legal compliance, soundness and the Duty to cooperate.

The results of the consultation have been published.

You can:

  • search the database for comments and respondents through the ‘View the responses’ link below, and
  • view the comments against a specific section, policy or site by viewing the relevant page in the online version of the draft Local Plan: strategy and sites documents and clicking "View comments" at the bottom of the page.

We will progress the Local Plan towards submission to the Planning Inspectorate for examination. For details regarding the next steps, please refer to the Local Development Scheme.
